Potrero Nuevo Farm Reflection

When we got to the farm I was surprised because I expected to see those red barns from pictures and a lot of animals.

I enjoyed getting the potatoes because i had never dug up potatoes in my life. Whenever I saw a potato I screamed because it is like finding treasure, or in a more literal sort of way it's like finding money on the ground and it is just one lucky day.

I liked seeing the chickens because they are so cute. I love Jay and Suzie's dog Bear; I like dogs in general so it so no surprise as to why I love him. I like how Bear dug potatoes with us because I didn't think he'd be able to help us, but he did because he was able to get some potatoes.

Even though I'm afraid of flowers I still helped pick the lavender as well as put them in bundles.

Why am I afraidof flowers? Because when I was younger we would have deaths in my family year after year and as we lower the casket into the grave we would throw flowers on top of the coffin, so that traumatized me.

Picking the lavender helped me get out of my comfort zone and I would do it again if it meant making someone else's life easier.

The things I didn't like was that we couldn't get refreshments. They are only meant for cyclists. I misunderstood what it said on the website. I didn't like how we didn't have a lot of time, so It feltlike our  activities were sort of rushed. Despite these downfalls everything else was great.

Preflection for CBL experience at Potrero Nuevo Farm

I noticed the images the people are picking their own vegetables or plants. This is interesting because I have always wanted to do that after watching documentaries of students getting to choose their own fruits and vegetables and taking it back to their schools for the cafeteria to use and cook. This is significant because in my high school we had nasty cafeteria lunches and the teacher wanted to start a campaign to change the food in the cafeteria and to support her argument she showed the documentary that I just mentioned above.

I notice that they have like a cafe with tea, snacks, and all sorts of stuff. I think this is interesting because it seems like a place where it revitalizes a person.

I notice that the farm does not use any chemicals on the plants. This is revealing because nowadays most plants are sprayed with harsh chemicals.

"This club offers people an opportunity to experience more intimately the source of their food(potreronuevofarm)."
This is revealing because sometimes people do not think of where their food comes from. Although some packages may advertise that they are healthy the processes that the food goes through is not. For example, with Nestle water bottles, it seems good because water is good for humans, but if a person were to read the fine print on the label the source of the water says Public Water System, or something like that which means it is basically sewer water or the water used in the toilet that some people are drinking. So it is important to understand where food is from and how it is made.
